Besides being the most favored and popular occasion, Christmas day celebration varies with different countries and regions in the world. People love everything about Christmas Day – the nativity scene, caroling, scripture reading and concerts. Christmas day celebration starts before a month and carries till New Year. Colored lights decorate many town centers and shops, along with shiny decorations, and artificial snow painted on shop windows to make it a mesmerizing experience for everyone. Christmas day celebration also includes exploring and visiting the exotic destination in the world which add-on the Christmas gaiety with their joyful offers and beautiful locations.

The 25th of December, is the most precious and waited day of the year for Christians. As this day is celebrated as the birth of Jesus Christ, a spiritual leader who has brought the religion Christianity in existence. Christmas is both a sacred religious holiday and a worldwide cultural and commercial phenomenon. For two millennia, people around the world have been observing it with traditions and practices that are both religious and secular in nature.

Now the festival or occasion Christmas is not limited to western countries but has moved forward to Asian countries as well from last 2 decade. What are the differences in celebration and customs for Christmas in this world?  Christmas traditions are same all over the world but performing them is quite a different thing in different parts of world. Christmas day celebration signifies the custom of the region and it varies with different countries.

Christmas Day In USA

Christmas is the biggest occasion to celebrate for the people of America. The celebration starts before days or even weeks before Christmas people decorate their homes and gardens with lights, Christmas trees and much more. On Christmas Eve, its custom to organize dinner for friends and family and serve them a special meal often consisting of turkey and a lot of other festive foods. Exchanging gifts sin other special custom of Christmas which gives unforgettable experience to all. Many Sunday schools, churches and communities organize special events. These can include decorating the neighborhood or a shopping mall, putting up a Christmas tree and planning a Nativity display, concert or performance. A lot of plays and songs have a aspect of Christmas as a theme.

Christmas Day In Australia

Australia celebrates Christmas in the middle of summer and both December 25 and 26 are public holidays there. Many people, even if they are not Christian, give each other gifts, prepare special meals and decorate their homes at this time of year. Many aspects of the Christmas celebrations originated from winter celebrations in Europe. However they are increasingly influenced by the Australian climate and wildlife.

Christmas Day In Europe

Christmas is a festival of Europeans which means celebrating and spending time with family. The whole Europe celebrates Christmas as the most special day of the year and decorates their homes and work stations. On this day, all family members spend time in baking cookies, making fudge and preparing a big Christmas dinner, with all the trimmings. The children love to see each other and spend the day playing games and sharing their new gifts and toys that Santa Claus brought for each of them.

  1. You can explore the country when there all the merriment is there. Times Square Madame Tussauds, Odditorium and Discovery Times Square with the cool Harry Potter exhibit are all open on Christmas, The Empire State Building and Top of the Rock all these places are open on the day of Christmas and give you immense pleasure on the significant occasion of the year.
  2. Hit the ice The Pond at Bryant Park, Wollman and Lasker Rinks in Central Park, Riverbank State Park, Van Cortlandt Park and Rockefeller Center are all open for ice-skating. If you head to Bryant Park, you can also do some really last-minute holiday shopping at its fantastic outdoor holiday market or take a ride on the carousel.
  3. Celebrate at a Jewish museum Many of NYC’s Jewish cultural institutions are open today and offering special family activities. Catch a Klez for Kids concert at the Museum at Eldridge Street and The Macaroons at The Jewish Museum; watch chef George Wong of Chopstix Restaurants carves incredible fruit sculptures at Brooklyn’s Jewish Children’s Museum; and enjoy a family celebration with crafts, live music and a movie at the Museum of Jewish Heritage.
